Miles Auditorium Fire

“Out Of the Ashes”

The Olen Miles Auditorium at Highland Lakes Camp was destroyed by fire Saturday, November 18, 2006. The blaze broke out about 1:00 PM.  Fortunately, the retreat guests in the auditorium were at lunch and away from the building at the time the blaze broke out.  Surrounding area firefighters quickly responded to extinguish the fire. However, the building and all its contents were totally destroyed.

Miles Auditorium was constructed in 1970-71 and dedicated in honor of the first camp manager, Olen Miles.  Since its completion, Miles Auditorium has been the central worship center at Highland Lakes.

With the destruction of Miles Auditorium, HLC has taken a major hit in our ability to host large groups.  While we still have two relatively large meeting facilities (Art & Myrtle Little Conference Center and Providence Tabernacle), the capacity of both buildings is at least 300 seats less than that of Miles Auditorium.  Simply put, we must rebuild Miles Auditorium before the start of the summer camping season.  And here is where we need your urgent help!!!

Please join us in praying for the completion of this new building and prayerfully seek what the Lord would have you do to help us financially with this urgent need.  We are extremely grateful for any assistance you can give us in this effort to rise “Out Of the Ashes”!

.

Recently plans have been completed for a new 1500-seat worship center and new office facilities.  The debris from the old building and the old slab has been cleared away.  Work has been completed on the new slab and much of the steel framing of the new building has been erected.  We look forward with great anticipation to the day this new and improved Miles Auditorium has been completed.
