Preteen Camp 2009

June 29-July 2      August 3-6      August 9-12

(For children who have completed 3rd-6th grade)

Camp Highlands Preteen Camp offers a safe, exciting camping experience designed specifically for boys and girls who have completed 3rd-6th grade.  Camp Highlands Preteen Camp exists to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ by presenting the gospel to those who have not trusted him for salvation and by exhorting those who belong to Jesus to grow in their relationship with the Savior.

What Preteen Camp Is All about

The sole purpose of Preteen Camp is to glorify and exalt the Lord Jesus Christ.  He is worthy of all our worship, trust, and service.  Therefore, we seek to lift his name high by focusing on the following objectives:

—  Pointing children to Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 2:2)

—  Effectively communicating God's word (2 Timothy 3:16)

—  Encouraging children to worship (James 4:8)

—  Helping students experience spiritual intimacy (Galatians 6:2)

—  Challenging children to lead (1 Peter 4:10)

—  Supporting the local church (Galatians 6:10).

A Day at Preteen Camp

At Camp Highlands Preteen Camp children will experience creative Bible studies, high-energy worship celebrations, small group discussions, guided quiet times, and age-appropriate outdoor activities all to ensure an unforgettable camp experience directed toward helping preteens grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ.

Bible study, Worship, and Church Family Groups make up the most important parts of a day at camp.  Children and adults gather together for a focused worship experience involving kids in music, scripture reading, creative drama, video, and a challenge from the camp speaker.  These are special times in which the Children’s Ministers can build relationships with their kids and also build strong spiritual foundations as they direct their preteens to dynamic relationships with Jesus.

Another exciting aspect of Camp Highlands Preteen Camp is recreation, which is designed to strengthen unity between children and adults within the church group.  Through participation in carefully selected, fun filled activities, campers will experience a series of successes and the exhilaration of accomplishment, developing a stronger sense of self-worth and an adventuresome attitude.

Session 2: August 3-6

Speaker: Steve Winger

Worship Leader: Brent Weber

Steve Winger has been juggling for Jesus since 1984 when he was asked to share the story of the Prodigal Son creatively with fellow college students. He told the story while using juggling to illustrate the words he spoke. Word of his talent quickly spread and he found himself being asked to share his juggling ministry for groups of all ages. Over the many years since that time, Steve’s ministry has developed into a world-class combination of juggling, comedy and Biblical teaching. You never know what you may see flying through the air—raw eggs, machetes, cannon balls, globes or giant Chinese yo-yos. No matter what is in the air you are sure to be captivated by this creative and powerful demonstration of the message of Christ. www.jugglerforjesus.com
